We’re excited to announce the launch of new multi-org features designed to provide insights and support for AWS Resellers providing cost optimization services powered by ProsperOps, and Enterprises that manage or operate multiple AWS organizations.

Many AWS Resellers offering cloud cost optimization services don’t have an easy way to view global usage, coverage, spend, or savings across all of the AWS organizations they support. That’s because native cloud reporting tools, like AWS Cost Explorer and AWS Cost & Usage Report, lack multi-org rollup reports. To see combined cloud cost metrics for all of the organizations they support, resellers providing AWS cost optimization services need to assemble their own reports by aggregating data from individual payer accounts, or using third-party cloud reporting tools, which can eat into margins.

This same scenario exists for companies operating multiple AWS organizations. This can be a result of a merger or acquisition, or because these AWS enterprises choose to operate separate orgs for security, production, development, testing or administration purposes. Each organization within the multi-org enterprise would be viewed on separate AWS cost reports, without aggregation across individual organizations.

Looking at metrics for usage, coverage, and Effective Savings Rate (ESR) at the individual organization level can be helpful for some customers, but AWS Resellers and multi-org enterprises trying to understand the bigger picture need a better way to visualize and understand these metrics across all of their AWS organizations, combined.

Now, with new multi-org reporting in ProsperOps, companies supporting multiple AWS organizations have instant visibility into global cross-org metrics. Easily find aggregate totals across all AWS organizations for compute spend, commitment coverage, ESR, and more. These new multi-org features are also beneficial for AWS Resellers leveraging the ProsperOps platform to provide AWS cost optimization services at scale.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s new…

Aggregate Compute Usage and Spend Coverage

ProsperOps customers who manage multiple AWS orgs can now view aggregate totals for compute usage and commitment spending from the main Savings Breakdown dashboard. In addition to the total Compute Usage and End Customer Spend Coverage, we calculate and show the delta between the current and previous month.

ProsperOps now helps AWS Resellers answer important questions, like:

  • How is aggregate usage across all of my AWS customers changing?
  • Are customers covering more or less usage with their own AWS discount instruments?
  • What do coverage, usage, and savings trends look like over time?

Armed with answers to these questions, AWS Resellers know with certainty that the ProsperOps platform and cost optimization service is taking full advantage of opportunities to maximize commitment coverage, utilization, and savings. Savings that can be shared with end customers and used to boost your AWS reseller margins.

Multi-organization Summary Page

From the “Organizations” dropdown, customers supporting multiple AWS orgs will now find a “Multi-Organization Summary” page. This new summary page displays both global metrics and individual customer data, including compute usage, savings (net, gross, lifetime, and incremental), ESR, and more.

The multi-org dashboard provides global views for Portfolio Allocation, Usage Patterns, Spend Coverage, Daily Savings, and Net Savings Trends — including global ESR and how your overall savings performance has improved over time. Rather than piece together end-customer data from tools like AWS Cost & Usage Report and AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Resellers using ProsperOps can see a high-level overview of savings performance, opportunities, and outcomes across all of their end customer organizations managed by our cost optimization platform.

Multi-org Summary Report: Arbitrage Opportunity, Spend, and Coverage Trend

Within the Multi-org Summary page, there is also a table breaking down current savings opportunities and a trailing six-month trend, allowing partners to monitor and track patterns across their entire population of customers. AWS Resellers can view total customer compute usage, customer spend coverage, arbitrageable compute usage, arbitrageable compute spend, savings, and incremental savings combined for all of their customers.

This aggregated data allows AWS Resellers to:

  • Monitor and track changes in customer usage and coverage over time
  • Better understand and support customers with cost optimization services
  • Measure and audit the effectiveness of the ProsperOps platform and service

Individual Org Summary Table

The Individual Organization Summary table, accessible from the Multi-org Summary Page, provides high-level details behind KPIs like ESR, compute usage, and savings (gross, net, lifetime, and incremental) across all of the AWS organizations under your management.

Enterprises supporting multiple AWS organizations can also export an expanded version (CSV file) of this organization summary report, containing all tracked metrics for each of your AWS organizations.

Cloud Cost Optimization Benefits for AWS Resellers

Together, new multi-org summary reports benefit AWS Resellers leveraging ProsperOps to provide AWS cost optimization services at scale. Our platform helps them better understand their business and customers, increase revenues, and improve the services they provide. ProsperOps gives you greater visibility into global compute usage, commitment coverage, savings performance and more, across all of the AWS organizations you support.

At the same time, AWS Resellers can use these multi-org reports to quickly spot customers purchasing their own AWS commitments and work to shift the management of those AWS discount commitments from being handled by end customers to being managed by our autonomous cost optimization software.

As a result, AWS Resellers can:

  • Optimize more AWS spending to drive down overall compute costs and reduce waste
  • Improve outcomes (higher ESR, more savings) for customers using ProsperOps
  • Share savings to strengthen customer loyalty and increase AWS Reseller margins

Why ProsperOps for Cloud Cost Optimization at scale

Prior to starting ProsperOps, our founders helped build the AWS managed services business at Rackspace. In the process, they grew it into one of the world\’s largest AWS Premier Consulting Partners and earned recognition as a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant. In serving thousands of customers and running successful SaaS companies, our founders have developed a deep understanding of cloud cost optimization, how difficult it is, and what’s needed to support these services across multiple customers.

Partners providing AWS cost optimization services are faced with unique challenges. Volatility, risk, costs, and complexity increase exponentially with every new customer under management. Without intelligent and autonomous software, like ProsperOps, operating an efficient multi-org cost optimization program becomes nearly impossible. For AWS Resellers, ProsperOps offers the best platform to simplify, streamline, and support multi-org AWS cost optimization services.
