ProsperOps Scheduler Expands Support to Amazon RDS

Earlier this year, we launched ProsperOps Scheduler™, the only cloud resource scheduler to seamlessly integrate with rate optimization automation. The objective was straightforward: unify rate and workload optimization to unlock cost savings and eliminate inefficiencies that standalone solutions cannot address.

The initial release focused on automating state changes of Amazon EC2 instances based on weekly schedules, helping teams reduce waste and lower cloud spend. ProsperOps Scheduler stood out for a few key reasons.

  • Synchronous optimization: ProsperOps Scheduler works in tandem with our rate optimization product, Autonomous Discount Management (ADM), feeding data into ADM’s cyclicality detection and optimal coverage point algorithms. This integration enables instant reallocation of your commitment portfolio to align coverage with projected usage patterns.
  • Distributed control: Engineers set schedules through cloud resource tags, using the AWS Console, custom scripts, or Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools. This allows those most familiar with resources to control their schedules, without bottlenecks or handoffs.
  • Centralized visibility: FinOps teams gain visibility into resource states, state change events, and the cost avoidance outcomes driven by ProsperOps Scheduler.

Now, we are excited to announce the next step in the evolution of ProsperOps Scheduler.

Expanding support to Amazon RDS

Today, we are expanding ProsperOps Scheduler to support scheduling for Amazon RDS. Customers can schedule RDS instances in the same way they schedule EC2. This is especially impactful in non-production environments such as development, staging, or UAT, where RDS workloads do not need to run continuously.

For RDS, ProsperOps Scheduler continues to offer distributed control for engineers to schedule RDS workloads and centralized visibility for FinOps to track schedules, state change events, and costs avoided. With support for both EC2 and RDS, ProsperOps Scheduler now offers a solution for managing workload schedules across multiple AWS services.

ProsperOps Scheduler is available in Early Access to customers of ADM for AWS, and now supports EC2 and RDS scheduling. Customers can express interest by selecting the Scheduler icon in the left navigation menu of the ProsperOps Console. If you are not yet a ProsperOps customer, express interest here.
