Broad identity federation support now availableChris Kuehl, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer
As more and more companies adopt SaaS solutions, proper identity management is a critical aspect of maintaining secure and properly controlled access. Anytime a "one-off" set of credentials exists in a SaaS application, that typically means 1) a separate process to create new users when granting access, and 2) a separate process to remove users (if you even remember) when a team member leaves.
For these reasons, companies generally adopt a cloud identity provider (e.g. Okta, Google Identity, Azure AD) and integrate their applications with it for single sign-on (SSO). This enables companies to manage users in one place, including granting and revoking access to various applications.
To support this for ProsperOps customers, we started by adding Google as an identity provider. As we have come to serve more and more enterprises, the demand for broader identity federation support has increased, and we are excited to announce that the ProsperOps Console now supports OIDC- and SAML-based identity federation!
OIDC (OpenID Connect) and SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) are the underlying protocols that virtually all modern identity providers leverage to support federated authentication and authorization. Bottom line, in addition to Google Identity, you can now configure Okta, Azure AD, or whatever corporate directory your company uses to manage access to ProsperOps.
This feature is provided at no additional cost for ProsperOps customers with an active subscription to our service. If you are an existing customer and are interested in configuring OIDC or SAML identity federation, please see our help article for more information.
